Re: 4x8 plasma cam, has anyone done it?

I don't know where this is coming from, Joe. "I don't think PlasmaCam makes their tables in America. I think they come from China. Maybe they add the motors here, and a few other components so they can claim they are "Made in America," but the table frames and braces etc., all look li...

You might have 24-bit color confused with 256 color
Open the graphic in Windows Paint and "Save As" 256 or as 16 color bitmap.

Re: Grounding portable CNC Plasma table at remote locations?

If you are outside, you can drive a piece of re-bar into the ground. If you are indoors, just make sure the plasma WORK clamp is attached securely to the table grate or the material.

If you use the unshielded consumables you are not using one of the main features of the Advanced Height which is the "Sense Material to set Height". You should be using the Machine Shield on the torch so you can use the material sensing. If the material is 10 ga or thinner you can use the ...

Re: Z height control

Here is an overview of the "Arc Voltage Shift". The Digital Height Control works by reading the voltage of the arc. The voltage of the arc will depend on the cutter and consumables being used. The software has no way of knowing what plasma cutter and consumables are being used. So the Arc ...

Re: Bad Z-Axis Motor and Encoder???

I noticed that you said you were using the Finecut with the smaller Swirl ring. You should be using the standard swirl ring instead. That really affects the height control. When you set the Z-shift you have to start with the z-motor all the way up. Then jog down until the torch just touches the meta...

Re: Warped Grating

The z-shift setting is important for the pierce height. The way you set it is to bring the torch out over the metal then jog the Z-axis all the way UP. Then jog down until the torch just touches the metal. Open the Settings and click the ZERO by the Z-shift. You will get an offset number. Click OK o...

Re: Hello, very new here, looking for info/insight on used DHC

If the torch is cutting too high off the metal you will get a lot more warping. The height control is calibrated with the "Arc Voltage Shift" and is mostly dependent on the amperage nozzle used. By the way, you should run the amps to the rating of the nozzle. For a Hypertherm with a 45 amp...

Re: A few Q on my Plasmacam.

Your diving problem is caused by the pierce height being too low. It is supposed to be approx 2X the cut height. Your pierce should be .150 Rapid travel acceleration is always .1 Cut height .063 Start the Arc Voltage Shift at .8 You will have to adjust the Arc Voltage Shift to get the correct cut he...

Re: Engraver on plasmacam

You could make an engraver holder and bolt it to the right or left side of the torch holder. You would then measure the offset between the torch and the engraver. Set up your drawing for the engraver. After engraving you would offset the drawing by the distance between the torch and engraver. Lets s...

Jeff, If you are using the Plasmacam art disc you can open the image that already has the cut paths and use it as is. If you want to apply tour own cut paths and you do not have the "Exclude Crossovers" feature, you can apply a Smooth to the drawing before converting to cut path. Highlight...

still just dives towards the table. I see this is an old post. You did not say which nozzle you have on the torch, the cut speed and amperage. The function for the height control is based on those items and is then is calibrated with the Arc Voltage Shift. As a rule of thumb, increase the Arc Volta...

^ that is the DHC2 right? The DHC is a smaller stepper motor which I read many complain is underpowered and slower than the DHC2. I don't mind slow or under powered so long as it works right. If the smaller DHC stepper looks anything like that one inside I am thinking at least one fo the bearings m...

Re: Z shift/Pierce Height does not holding setting

You are using the wrong swirl ring. The one you have is only for hand cutting. Use the regular swirl ring with the Finecut nozzle when cutting on the Plasmacam. Secondly, when you set the torch in the grips, do not have the grips right at the top of the retaining cap. Set it so that the grips are ab...

If you mean you are scaling a drawing to a specific size, you click the points and type in the size in inches.
