Re: Dumping hopper plans??

I've spent a little time this afternoon on a hopper design.. This one is a gravity dump. I may put these into plan form and sell the plans.. I just have to build one first and make sure it works.

Re: Can't figure this out...

Email me the gcode please [email protected].com I just sent it. The video clearly shows the commanded federate to be 35. This can be seen in the bottom left corner of screen. You're absolutely correct it clearly shows the commanded feedrate to be 35. It's like mach3 is over riding the sheet...

Re: Can't figure this out...

Had no idea you were still working on this issue, as I never heard from you. As asked for before, can you take a video of the screen while cutting? Not the actual torch movement. Also, what thickness? amperage? preset volts? actual volts reading? Dan Ldr I gave up after about 3 days of not being ab...

but I've just been dealing with this problem this entire time Why aren't you on the phone with Dan? I have had issues at times and if I can't figure it out, usually user error I will call Dan and he will troubleshoot over the phone. What is the voltage doing during this video? When you reloaded Mac...

Re: Can't figure this out...

Well I know its been a while, but I've just been dealing with this problem this entire time.. It's mostly sucked every bit of enjoyment out of using this table. So today I reloaded mach3. Now all it does is start to run the program, go over and pierce and then RAM the torch all the way til it limits...

Re: Dumping hopper plans??

I whipped this up quickly this afternoon as I too am interested in making these.... I got this far before I had to leave for work... but now I am pretty much stumped because I don't know how to make this cut in solidworks... (the cam slot and have it be correct through the rotation of the bin...) ht...

If the piece is not extremely time consuming to make, just make another you will be ahead. Trust me, I've done the same thing. Powdercoat can be REALLY time consuming to remove.

Re: indexing on a torchmate

I've done it on my old Torchmate 2x2 and 2x4. First you're going to need to divide your drawing in half, and then set it up to where you are cutting both parts at 0,0. Then you're going to need a fence. I welded a piece of 16ga to my slats, and then ripped it with a simple line program down the Y ax...

Re: Linux

Makes sense. Is a different post processor required or is it a hook it up and be running like before? I've watched the videos on youtube about commandCNC and what really is pushing me towards doing this is the view screen, for following cut activity, (cut and uncut parts during the program) With mac...

Re: Linux

I've got the ethercut on my LDR, I am interested in switching to commandCNC. for me is it a simple computer/OS swap or do I have to update the controller box too?

Looking at your website I'm slightly confused between the $450 retrofit and the $1100 EtherCut Linux + CommandCNC Upgrade.

Re: PITA

My biggest problems are stuck consumables and my Z axis loosing steps over a bunch of pierces and stalling out. I hit run and walk away and within 10 pierces I'll be back resetting something.

I bet you end up with a red and white mix is all. I dont think they powders will combine like a liquid paint will. Try it and see.

Re: bidding on a big job. need help....

I don't waste my time with the calculator, I use a per sq foot all inclusive price for different materials. Just winging it off the top of my head figuring 76 per 4x8 sheet, I came up with $7200. So I do not think you're far off, but somebodies going to under cut you. For me personally, I'm not hung...

Re: clear powder over patina...

The edges are probably rusting from edge pull.. basically the powder doesn't adhere to the tiny sharp edges of the steel, as it cures it pulls away even more. I get it a lot on black powder.. best solution? sand the edges until they're smooth and dull. (lots of work and on artwork, pretty much impos...

Re: clear powder over patina...

Its cooking too hot. I discovered this issue when I was still doing the patina stuff.. I cured at 250 degrees.. which is under curing, but for these, durability doesn't need to be the same as say a bumper..

Well that makes sense... My X, Y, A axis all seem to be holding the same settings? My Z is different.. I have no idea what these values should actually be?

Re: Can't figure this out...

At first I thought I messed up and applied the wrong tool, but I went back in sheetcam and double checked. I went as far as to reboot everything and reexport the post. The majority of the parts would cut at the 35ipm when they were programmed for 90ipm. I manually bumped the feed rate up, but it wou...

Re: Can't figure this out...

Well, I tightened the set screws... One of them, I snapped an allen wrench off getting one loose, the other the set screw gave way before the allen did.. so I couldnt get that one out.. and probably never will. I aligned the good set screw with the flat spot and tightened it down.. It helped, but st...

Re: Can't figure this out...

I've checked all the pulley set screws, and the pinion is engaged tight to the rack. I can move the pinion, but that that point i'm applying so much force to make that happen that it is just moving because the spring is stretching. in the picture above, left to right is X, and top to bottom is Y. I ...
