Anyone use a TD Cutmaster 82 for CNC?

I got a good deal on a TD Cutmaster 82 but I'm concerned that I should have got a bigger one. I had a TD 151 and it cut great, but this one stopped cutting after a bit even on some 1/4" steel. I get the duty cycle is lower than my old monster, but is this one too low to keep? I guess my questio...

I don't think burning galvanized steel around a bunch of people roasting marshmallows is a good idea...?

Yeah, no coating is gonna hold up. The customer is going to have to deal with it.

How to control a servo motor?

Because of a problem I'm having in another thread, I want to build my own THC basically. Or more simply put, I want to control a servo motor separately. I want to disconnect the Z axis servo motor from my CNC table setup, and somehow control it completely separately. That's basically what I'm doing ...

Re: Torch head diving down when cutting

Well the manua jog probably has some kind if pulse generator and direction sense. Is the pendant switch or a jogstick (with proportional jog speeds based on deflection)? WINCNC is still around but as you know PCNC went belly up years ago. It's a simple box with two momentary buttons on it. One for ...

We can't see those pics.

You're gonna have to host them somewhere else.

Re: Selling someone elses design

If you post pics of it online, it's gonna get copied. That's all there is to it. This stuff we do is stupid easy to copy from a picture, We're all sitting at a computer, we see a cool design, we all "have" the software to do a trace... Now, keep in mind that not "all" of us have ...

Re: Torch head diving down when cutting

Didn't the old PCNC have a "pendant " for jogging? Is that what you are using for the Z up and down? Yes, that's what I'm using. It works perfectly fine and one of the buttons isn't shorted out or anything, but as soon as the torch starts, the Z drives down like twice as fast as I can con...

Re: Torch head diving down when cutting

Nope...
No torch height control on this bad boy... Strictly pendant control. Practical's THC was junk so I returned it soon after I got the table. Been using an up and a down button ever since.

Pity me.

Torch head diving down when cutting

I have an old Practical CNC table with a new TD Cutmaster 82. I'm using WinCNC and have no THC. (I just use a pendant for THC) When I start the cutpath, as soon as the torch starts, the Z drives down super fast into the metal, and I can't stop it, I can slow it down with the up button on the pendant...

Re: My TD151 took a dump on me.

Got a bid back to repair my TD151... Minimum of 910.00 to repair if it's only one thing wrong with it. I did find out that TD has a trade in program and they will give me up to 1000.00 back towards a new machine though! If I get a brand new TD82, it will only cost me about 1400.00. I think I'm going...

My TD151 took a dump on me.

So about a month ago I fired up my Thermal Dynamics 151 and I saw big flashes of light, and pops coming from the side of it. And obviously... It won't work now. The fan still comes on, along with the LED's, but it won't start cutting when I pull the trigger. I pulled the cover off and the circuit bo...

Re: Bonding two painted plates together, tips?

Ive used double sided tape with great luck. I use the Duck brand tape. It comes in like 3/4" and 1" thick rolls I think. I also use it to stick signs to walls and when I have had to remove it, some of the Sheetrock comes off with the tape! It's super cheap to try out at like under 2.00 a r...

My new fire pit ring

I don't do much metalworking anymore, but I've been wanting a nice fire ring for a while now, and have been trying to come up with one, with all the features that I want, and after years and years of tireless research... I finally decided on a design. Luckily... I have a CNC plasma cutting table and...
