Re: Just playing

I was at one point considering putting some laser pointers in the torch, but then thought for my use, maybe one day? What I decided to try was to line up with the edge of the 70 mm box so I drew this sort of thing in Qcad small box section pumpkin 2.jpg Done on two layers, guide lines on one and the...

Re: Just playing

I went slightly larger in the cut area and centred the items better after comments from SWMBO, I basically played for an hour in the garage.

Just playing

It's getting on for Halloween, so I thought I would have a play making a tea-light. Rather than mess with bits of thin stuff and bend it round to shape thought I would have a go with some left over square tube. This stuff is 70 mm box (2 3/4 inch), 12 gauge so around 2.7 mm thick. boxtealight1.jpg b...

Re: Help with possible settings mach3 and sheetcam. Pause at change of feed rate

Thanks again for your answers and I believe it tcaudle probably got it because the THC off in my little system is a macro. And here are the lines of code that sheetcam generated around one of the pauses in cutting N6060 M102 (On arcs) N6070 G01 X314.1213 Y180.5000 F2200.0 N6080 M101 (On arcs) N6090 ...

Re: Help with possible settings mach3 and sheetcam. Pause at change of feed rate

Thanks for the responses, perhaps it is Mach doing a few things, I also turn off THC in corners or arcs etc, in the pics below this is not a corner really because I tend to round the corners a 1/16" or so to stop a divot point in the absolute corner. So the below is on detection of an arc, but ...

I did not clean up the first cut pieces just throu them in the bin so the second one has a bit of time in the vibratory tub before that decided to trip the mains :( The actual rules on these come in at something like 3mm before and after so aroun...

Re: Help with possible settings mach3 and sheetcam. Pause at change of feed rate

Sorry, perhaps my description of what I saw and thought is a problem was poor. I will try to explain a bit better, and I will put it in inches rather than metric. my cutting rule is something basic such as this When cutting in a straight line the feedrate is 90 IPM (100%), when it is within 1/4 inch...

Help with possible settings mach3 and sheetcam. Pause at change of feed rate

As I am not sure where this should go for the time being I will leave in the general section and a mod could move it to the correct section if it goes one way or the other. I have a complete home made system, done very cost effective, but is a small machine. I am learning as I go trying to pick up t...

Re: Tree of Life Infinity

Every day seems like I am re-doing something on my desk table top plasma, changing the drive, stopping water blow-back hitting the bearing surfaces etc. So I set myself little test pieces along the way just to see how the things progress. Well tonight I managed to get this cut 450mm diameter and a m...

Re: Zero to work height issues and my macro solution.

Hello tcaudle, or anyone! I am reading more resources and trying to learn. I found this on the web http://www.machsupport.com/Mach3Wiki/index.php?title=VB_Constants_for_Signal_Names Are you using these numbers for Ohmic, in effect using what would be using ZHome for Ohmic and possibly using the DIGI...

Re: Zero to work height issues and my macro solution.

OK, so you include this with your CandCNC gear, sorry I did not know. Mine is all home made so I am learning to resolve issues as I go along. I looked at the IsActive() but could not find anything that defined the probe input pin (Port 1 Pin 11) when reading though the macro reference manual, have I...

Zero to work height issues and my macro solution.

I am not sure if this will help anyone or, if the issue I had is only particular to me, but here goes. On occasion, my switch used on the G31 probe would stick, either due to crud that had managed to get in there or something had jammed in there keeping the torch raised slightly, basically meaning t...

Jim's post is dead on point and needs no more comment added to it. Just one respectfully asked question, why even join this forum if you don't want to better yourself equipment wise? Just perhaps not everyone is commercial and can afford to have full systems, building as you go can be for many the ...

Just to say thanks Dave for the application (Program)! tcaudle, I could have done with your help when trying to learn all this as I never found out any of this through the tutorials with Sheetcam. :)

Is there a written manual anywhere? in linux the program will not show the post documentation on my machine.

Re: Zero Z axis before cutting?

I know that my set-up is only a small home made hobby one, but I zero X and Y not Z, but I zero Z before every pierce. If the following helps? I use a M800 macro to perform the zero, the probe switch on my set-up is mounted to the Z carriage, so I have the situation where the nozzle touches down on ...

I hope this is an OK thing to do, I liked the Tree of life curly so downloaded it and then scaled it down to a size I may just fit on my table. I decided to loose a bit of detail and make it into a ring. Then started to use the file to learn how to trace images, play with nodes etc. I have not cut y...

Re: Question on the morality of DXF sharing?

That sounds very sensible Julie, I have looked at your site and read your custom service etc. I have bought files before from ebay, back in the early days of me starting with cnc plasma and I do wonder sometimes about the commercial rights of some of the files I paid for. My cuts are simple and I ha...
