Re: dxf distortion

I found a fix for this a while back and posted it... I'll copy it in here. This works in Draftsight and Acad that I know of. Should be the same in any Acad based program. Type in viewres at the prompt an set it to 20000. In draftsight I just typed viewres 'enter', then it asked if I wanted fast zoom...

Re: New member blowing up list

The occasional file from the past that pops up is fine. I've seen some great files that got bumped from years ago that I snagged. But I agree that this new member disrupted the flow of the entire file sharing forum. It is nice though to see people say thanks. :)

Re: Double cutting?

Make sure you're not downloading files that have cut paths on them too. Some files you'll get for free have the cut path added to the drawing that shows as a second line on the drawing if you zoom in on it. If you use sheetcam on a file like that you would get 2 separate paths.

cut this one out in november 2008 57" http://plasmaspider.com/images/tree2.jpg Felt I was ready to cut a tree of life and tried this one... That's really a fantastic file. I sized it to 30" and made a few small adjustments and it cut beautifully. Thanks for the file. 20170502_222313.jpg

Re: Cut length help

Even the demo version of sheetcam will do it. Just import your image, run operation - plasma cut on it. Click file, job report and then ok after you select your options. The full report has everything you would ever want to know about your drawing on it. I run the demo version on my home computer an...

I use this website for almost all of my text... Type in your text, find the font you want, take a screenshot and trace in inkscape. They usually trace perfectly. I use pacifico a lot. It's not the same as your pic but I did see a few there poking around that looked almost identical. http://www.tatto...

By chance did you disable the tip saver and enable VAD? Those two settings were why mine weren't working. I fought mine for a few months too and finally took the manual and went through page by page in the DTHC setup and wrote down all of the results of the tests and posted on the CandCNC support fo...

When I bought my kit from PPLLC they sent red locktite and instructed to put it on the shafts and the screws.

I haven't had any slippage yet. Is a little bit of a pain if you need to adjust a pulley though.

The only problem with that Jacky is that there weren't any open lines in this one. I looked. With a little tweaking I think it would cut out ok but this drawing definitely had a lot of issues.

Re: Cutting Brass Sheet

I had the same considerations for an estimate recently too. Customer wanted silhouettes cut out of copper. Best price I got was $600 for a 4x8 16GA sheet. I gave them the price of $900 for the sheet and told them I'd charge by the inch for the cuts and do them pretty cheaply. Luckily they said it wa...

Re: Tips for spotting looped lines/artifacts in drawings?

For grins, I ran the file in sheetcam and told it to loop the sharp corners with a triangle and ran the operation. It points out a bunch of corners you would probably want to clean up a little but I didn't see an obvious fault. Then I ran the same inside layer but with an outside offset to check the...

Re: Bottle opener material thickness

I was cutting them out of 11ga but was told by several people that 14ga works fine and won't bend. I opened a few bottles with a 14ga opener and it didn't explode. Since most of what I cut is 14 I'll probably start using that. And using scrap steel to cut them is still cheaper than paying even a buc...

Re: Q on welding issue with 14ga steel - now cleat mounting system

I modified the sawtooth file and added holes on each end and I just spot weld inside the holes to attach. As mentioned above it doesn't take much. Doing hangers as long as the one's you're making I might add another hole every 9 or 12 inches and do another spot weld on it. It's plenty strong.

Here's a start. You should be able to import an .svg into acad. Sorry I haven't found a program that will reliably convert an svg to a dwg or dxf or I would have given you that. It still needs a little work.

Nasty little file there. lol

wvtbone73, I think your best bet is going to be to ask around and find out who has tables in their garages at home that would let you come and hang out with them. After you see a few running in person you'll know better what you want and don't want. If you were closer to me I wouldn't mind at all (C...

I just bought one of the Eastwood SCT's and I love it. It turns ugly multi colored steel to a nice even brushed shiny surface in minutes.
