Re: World"s smallest "knock down" fire pit?

Love it! I'd like to thank hemichargersrt8 for all the help he's provided, both publicly and via PM/emails. He's been nothing but generous with his time/skill/talents. Thanks Paul!

Re: Selling someone elses design

I just checked out the ebay listing. I also checked out the sellers other items. He has 481 dxf files for sale/ Browsing through them, I see many designs that have been shared on here. Me thinks he walks among us. From what I've seen, all of Redline Steel's products are lifted straight from here. l...

Re: PlasmaCam RENEGES on eBay Sales

Too many people I respect are using Plasmacam and Samson, and making good money and good product. I don't necessarily feel that the Plasmacam product is the best value out there, but it's certainly capable of the job. If I owned one, though, I'd always be worried when I might find myself boxed in a ...

I LOVE the new Copper Plus consumables. Haven't had to change one yet but after looking at them I think I'm going to get very long life out of them. Rick I love them. They last a long time. Be warned, though...once you can start to see the crater recessing into the copper, they go FAST. The crater ...

Anyone have tips on creating dies for a small press brake?

I have a customer who is ramping up the volume on a part I make for them. It's a wall mount bracket. It looks like this. 22-2220 - NEX - Wall Bracket - Ver2 - ready for plasma.jpg You can see how it needs to be bent in the center section. I've been doing these by hand on a box brake, and that sucks....

Fighting these codes right now. What causes wear to the swirl ring? Are there any steps that can be done to minimize the wear (aside from clean, dry, oil-free air)?

Re: Plasma table clamps?

I have several I've made, modeled on _Ogre's solution. They work great...as long as you have access to the bottom of your slats. As my table has filled up with debris, I find it's difficult to scrape out an opening on both sides for them to get under the slat.

Re: Odd issue not cutting through at edge of material

Thanks Jim. That all makes sense on the stainless, but it doesn't explain why I am now having issues on half inch mild steel. I have cut half inch mild steel in the past, with no issues whatsoever. Parts typically fall out of my half-inch just fine. Also, on the half inch parts, notice the issue is ...

Odd issue not cutting through at edge of material

Ran into an issue cutting some 3/4" stainless a couple of weeks ago. I was cutting a line, "ripping" some SS railing down to a smaller size. I made some practice cuts on a scrap piece, and kept running into an odd issue. For some reason, the plasma would leave a small uncut section at...

Re: List of available THCs?

Out of my depth doesn't begin to describe my involvement in this discussion. However, I would like to add a router table to the stable. I'm also very pleased in my move from Mach3 to CommandCNC. Particularly in motion control. I've read this becomes even more of an issue in the 3d world. As such, I'...

Re: What are the best electronics

Dan, you really owe it to yourself to go and get a demo on a Hypertherm High Definition system say around 130 amps. We have a table manufacturer here and seeing what one of their 3mm x 1.5m $130k tables can do is an eyeopener. They can replace laser cutting for all but the finest of parts and cut u...

Storing cut pieces/stock vertically

Guys, I'm curious what methods you use to store your cut panels/stock pieces vertically. I'm not talking sheets, but rather finished cut pieces that you have in inventory. Things for shows, needs packaged for shipment, etc. Stuff up to 3/16" thick. I was thinking of cutting slots in 3-4" P...

Re: Not cutting all the way through in certain areas

Jim suggests that increasing the cut height alone will fix it. I found the only sure-fire way to fix it was to cut at .075 as well as reduce speed 10%. A bit more dross, but much better than trying to pick cuts back up, etc.

Re: NUMBER OF PIERCINGS BY HYPERTHERM CONSUMABLES

I will tell you that I get way more pierces than I thought I was. This. I don't have a pierce counter, but when I DON'T crash out the torch head, I'm amazed at how long the consumables last in 3/16" and less materials. I cut thicker than that, but not regularly, so I don't know how long they g...

Re: Keeping DXF file photos safe

Add in a good sized fuzzy drop shadow to your pictures and take the picture at a slight angle. This will make it exceptionally difficult for someone to get a decent trace without doing a lot of work. If they can fix that then they can copy anything, even an obstructive watermark. Can you explain wh...

Likely a software issue. Inkscape is a free software program. Use it to see if you can convert to .svg, and see if your printer likes that better.

Re: Removing powder coat finish

I powder coat yeti tumblers and usually have to strip old or powdercoat I screwed up. I use O'Reilly's airplane stripper in the rattle can. Sprayed on liberally and then let sit for about 20 minutes. It should peel off like a loose skin. Any powder left over can be cleaned up with a Scotch-Brite pa...
