Re: Over Head Crane ideas

I stack multiple sheets on a sheet dolly and just move it under the truss rail hoist as I need them on the table. There's a lot of good buys on dual wheel heavy caster's out there now. PM me if you want some good links to heavy dual 1400 lb casters under $40. Here's a good thread on sheet storage.. ...

Re: better power supply for JD2 table?

For the volumes I am doing, I just go back with an angle grinder with a wire brush, it quickly removes the dross. If you are in a high volume shop, you may want to look into a timesaver to remove dross. I don't think it's possible to get zero dross, 100% of the time. If you are cutting parts with a...

Re: better power supply for JD2 table?

It's hard to match laser quality on thinner parts but if you get up to 1/2" MS the plasma can come close to laser and a cut lot faster. I believe bang for the buck plasma is hard to beat when everything is considered.. IMO Here's picts of some 6x4" 1/2" parts I cut recently before any...

Re: How many have actually needed high speed THC

I was in a hurry and cut a little 4" part from 1/4" MS today and had the cut direction going the wrong way leaving the part hanging in mid air and it fell down about a half inch to the grate just before the cut was finished.. The torch followed it right down and still cut the part perfect....

Re: Rotary screw drive compressors thingy...thoughts?

Technology on screw compressors has improved quite a bit in the last few years. IR lets us adjust the perimeters on the total air model compressor in the pict above from 30 seconds idle to as long as 10 minutes with a duration dial control on the circuit board showing seconds and minutes. For the ai...

Re: PlasmaCam RENEGES on eBay Sales

Metalmanartsk,

If you go to the PlasmaCam owners forum you will probably have luck and get some good advice to fix the problem or why PlasmaCam won't help you.

Be sure to list your table model and version of Design Edge..

Re: PlasmaCam RENEGES on eBay Sales

I agree, that shipping price is NOT high.. I turned a trucking business over to my son and the state and federal BS with costs has got to the point where it's almost impossible to buy trucks and hire drivers and stay afloat in business. Just for starters,12% truck excise tax on tires, parts, new tru...

Re: PlasmaCam RENEGES on eBay Sales

Yea, that's nice, but I'm not wound up so tight I can't discount the OP's claim. I had the same kind of situation happen with Zoro (Grainger/Drill Spot same company) but they were not under contract like PlasmaCam was on E-Bay to supply the press brake tooling I bought from them at a bargain 1 day &...

Re: LDR Home/Farm Based Shop Prep. New Costomer

Brian, If you know your wire size and distance from the your building main panel you can calculate amperage available and balance that with the machines you will be able to run at the same time. Keep in mind the air compressor can require six times the in-rush current to spin up the motor when start...

Re: PlasmaCam RENEGES on eBay Sales

This guy Joe Jones rattles on about how Plasmacam does everything wrong then goes and buys two additional machines from them. Do they must be doing something right otherwise he would have bought a wescott or something else right? Or did he just spend $6000 out of spite? DesignEdge is excellent soft...

Re: Rotary screw drive compressors thingy...thoughts?

We bought an Ingersoll-Rand UP6-15CTASIP Air Compressor 15HP 480V/3P CTAS 150psi 120-gal Tank. This is when it was first mounted on the wall, floor space is always a premium in a shop.. I ran a 1" loop air line around the shop, about 200'.. I used Rapid-Air line along with AL-Pex.. What ever is...

Re: Shipping via Freight

The USA freight system is a victim of it's own design which puts us at the mercy of that pattern as well. I actually had to re-design my product down to size and weight that would keep it conforming to size and weight rules already established. I know UPS had a series of injured drivers caused by pi...

Re: PlasmaCam RENEGES on eBay Sales

When I first starting looking into CNC Plasma Tables, obviously PlasmaCam was the first one that sent me a cheezy super UV coated slick catalog. That's how they get you. The tables never looked stable or accurate to me, so I built my own. More importantly, I knew that the real hook was the software...

Yep, a hard to see almost invisible line remanent with maybe an oversize kerf setting causing the cut path to wander where it thinks it needs to be.

If you want to upload that pcm file myself or someone else here could take a look at it....

I've had a 4x4 Plasmacam a few years and I've had good luck with it. I made a deal on a commercial shop in an industrial area with proper zoning for plasma operation so I just bought another Plasmacam 5x10 Sampson for some full sheet cutting. I use downdraft with fan out the side of the shop wall an...

Just got done installing the 21,000 CFM table pusher fan & evaporative cooler for the 5 x 10 table. It was 99 degrees outside today and it brought the shop and offices down to about 75 degrees in a couple of hours. The shop was 88 degrees yesterday at 4 PM, way too hot to get any productive work...

I tried it both ways on 3/16" .188 HR & CR , ended up going back to the 45 amp process, bit faster and less (almost zero) dross. Although I'm using AHC so the height stays right at specs.
