Searching the Roadrunner

Hey!

Someone (I think it was little blue choo?!) posted here a while back a Roadrunner or/and Wilie Coyote, made of layered and painted steel pieces.

Do someone know, where the thread is?
I want to look at the Pictures to get an Idea how to make this layered Metal Art...

Thanks,

Marcel

I would make the hole on a lathe.
Are in the blade holes for pins or only the center hole?

Re: Surface finishing tool

I use some similar Tools on Stainless Steel. Use it, to get the finish, if I welding or have scratches in the material. I have the Expandable Wheel with some abrasive paper rolls in difference Grits, from rought to semi finish, and a few metal finish drums for the perfect finish. For mild steel I ha...

Maybe hot dip galvanization?
Dont want to drain the table each time, only when cleaning...
I think I made a holder for the slats, who only sitting in the pan, so if the pan is rusty, I can easaly change it.

Thanks for the comments!

Re: How do you store your files?

Hey, I use my fritz!box. I have on my fritz box a usb port, where I connect a usb drive. All my PC´s and Laptops are connected to the box via W-Lan. In the box I disabled the CNC-Pc to go to the Internet, so I have only access to the Stick. So I can browse on my Laptop in the Internet for files, sav...

Re: What Material for a Water Table

Hey,

thanks for the reply.
I think, I will use Aluminum.
Stainless steel cost here very much, can´t find a supplier who have good prices for private users.
And Aluminum is only a few bucks more than mild steel...

What Material for a Water Table

Hey,

I´m in the process of building my water table for a 4x4 table.
But not sure what Material I should use.
stainless steel? Or mild steel and some sort of coat to prevent rust?

I want to use 2mm / 12Gauge sheet metal and bent it to form a pan.

Best regards

Re: Which M3 VHB Tape to mount racks

Hey,

thanks for the reply.
I´ve got a roll of the 5952 typ.
The gap of 1mm isn´t bad.
This stuff bonds like hell... In my design I have a few bolts to give the racks additional support, but with the tape, i didn´t think I need them...

Re: Nesting...how do you do it?

I using Optinest, too.
Very happy with it, if the parts have odd shapes. You have an Material/Sheet Database, you can view the cost of used sheet, and you can save the unused rest of Sheet for another nest.

Re: Need to get THC working

Try to turn the THC in Mach3 off, an then make a test cut.
Then notice the Voltage on the THC. I think, it isn´t set correctly.
Have you connect the THC correctly to the Hypertherm?
The THC has an build-in voltage divider, the Powermax also. Maybe that is the Problem?

Re: Need to get THC working

Hey johnnybravo, when drive the torch into the metal? In the middle of a cut, or at the beginning? Have you cheked the settings in mach3? There you can change the Speed of the THC, maybe it´s too fast? You can set in the Proma a delay after the torch fired, so you can touch the metal, go to pirce hi...

Re: Need to get THC working

Hey,

in Mach3, under PluginControl, you have a config page of the ESS.
There is a chekbox to enable THC.
Look at this Video, @ 4:30 min. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8bcc02mS3xk
Also make sure, you have the actually ESS Plugin!

Re: solidworks question

Hey,

I would try SolidCam, it´s the Cam Package for SolidWorks.
There you can easy transfer your Parts from SolidWorks, and if you change your Part, it will also change in SolidCam, the Tool path will be automatic updated.

Best regards

Re: SheetCam Costing Plugin

Hey TP,

the Plugin is working just fine, that is all ok!

So the operational cost per sec is the time, who the plasma needs to cut a shape?
If I put the Maschine cost to 1, and the Plasma cutting 1 Minute, I get there $60?
