bigcreek wrote: I always crate my stuff in crates made of osb and lumber to protect contents.

this is the only way to ship big stuff, sometimes the crate is more expense than the part
any freight company will stack and jostle the part being shipped, protect the part

Re: have a print need cad work done .

you have a pdf of the drawing. chances are you could have asked for the drawing for import into autocad for conversion into a dxf. as for the rfq, that is typical of the whole industry. if it was a less than 100 small parts you could have given the job away for the cost of materials and consumables ...

Re: Help me buy the right machine!!

we chose bulltear/starlabs based on the linear bearings, substantial gear drives and non-proprietary software if you have proprietary software you are at the mercy of the manufacturer tech support, mach and sheetcam have great support thru forums bulltear gantry clearance allowed us to incorporate t...

i went thru the dance of making an air scribe for our table thinking we could make part labels to weld on
you need to hold the scribed part at the right angle in the right light to see any text
major disappointment :(

we have not changed the z axis switch offset in 5 yrs
if you change it for .002 variation it's probably the switch variables
if you change it more you have a loose or binding issue

I really love that they also have lots of options available (pipe cutter, engraver, router) not that I need that stuff yet, we bought bulltear/starlabs specifically because it had room under the gantry for the pipe cutter feature with no change over required other pipe cutters require disassembly o...

i'd be afraid to put a full sheet of 10ga on that table the legs and frame are bent 10 or 12ga attached with 1/4'' bolts from what i see on their website zero cable management, everything hanging from the ceiling gear rack drive system, but it's welded on straight slats are spaced 4'' apart imo you ...
