Re: Selling someone elses design

If I see an object (not copyrighted logos or images like Mickey) and have to spend a good amount of time converting it from say a sculpture or painting or some other printed item, then go even further to the trouble to ensure it's a well designed metal item that looks good and will cut well, then th...

Re: PlasmaCam RENEGES on eBay Sales

When I first starting looking into CNC Plasma Tables, obviously PlasmaCam was the first one that sent me a cheezy super UV coated slick catalog. That's how they get you. The tables never looked stable or accurate to me, so I built my own. More importantly, I knew that the real hook was the software ...

Re: Selling someone elses design

We have all heard that HD, Dizney and the Niffle would send a team of lawyers to your door and yet that doesn't seem to stop plenty of people from posting pics of their products which definitely seem to violate those copyrights, so I'm not really surprised when this kind of thing happens. I do think...

Re: Pancake punch

If you google "Metal Pancake Punch" you'll get pics of a tool that uses a pattern cut in steel used to "punch" thin copper and other thin materials like possibly leather, to use for mostly jewelry

Re: 4x8 Build Complete CandCNC Commandcnc

Well done on the new table. We have questions... What are the specifications? We like to read about the parts you used or did you create your own stuff, like the pulleys etc. Just curious... why the huge bathtub? What was the reasoning? I see the green 4x4 in the background; where did that come from...

Re: Scrap Material

I'm close to DC and the rates vary, depending a lot of location and size of operation. The last time I dealt with my steel scrap it was a giant waste of time, energy and a real health risk. I cut up drops small enough to fit in those 40gal black plastic bins with the yellow tops. They can get heavy ...

Re: Vertical Sheet Lifter

Just wanted to post a picture of my attempt. For more progress pics including the cutting, check out my Instagram Feed in the link below on my signature block The lever needs a spring to create tension on the plate as it's going on and this clamp would not be advised for any metal thinner than 1/8in...

Re: Inkscape to sheetcam issue

Yert, Not to completely discount what plasmaNewbie has said, but SheetCAM will open .svg files directly and very accurately. I rarely touch dxf files anymore. I go from Inkscape to SheeCAM using only .svg files, even with CAD like stuff. The scaling is the tricky part. SheetCAM opens .svg files 1:1....

nice. good job.

I know that a local metalshop that does a tone of SS use pure nitrogen, not regular air. But that's because they do a lot of SS for pro-kitchens etc.

Re: CNC Plasma cutting eye protection

There's nothing more frustrating than having a white spot in my vision as I try to do other things. I went to my welding supplier (ARC3) and bought a cheap $10 pair of #6 or 7 glasses. I also have a spare pair for friends/guests/Observers. I really do pay attention to my cuts because I have yet to g...

PHOTOBUCKET 3rd Party Hosting - Time to pay the piper

So as some of you may have noticed, there are a bunch of photos on this forum going back years that were originally uploaded through and hosted with Photobucket. Photobucket has decided that they no longer want their hosted pictures to show up anywhere without a slice of the pie from places like Fac...
