Re: SL100 Torch

Like BrandX says, the solenoid is used on the A-series machines to improve cycle time. You can shave off about 2 seconds per cut when cutting a nested program. All CUTMASTER and A-series machines can use any of the 1Torch torches. The logic recognizes which torch you have by the voltage supply to th...

Re: cut charts is it just me?

The issue is more likely to be that the current control is not dead accurate (potentiometer on a silkscreen scale). It could be that you are not really getting the current you think you asked for. Try setting the current on the control knob about 10% high.

Re: TD A60 Cutting

AS you say, the orifice size is the same for the 20 and 30A tips. Other dimensions are different. In my experience, the difference between 20A and 30 A tips is very small. 20 A does allow you to move a little slower.

Re: TD A60 Cutting

Like srp says, for a narrower kerf, use a smaller tip. 20 amp is probably too small and slow, but the 30 amp does give a narrower kerf. The dross is influenced most by cut speed, then by torch height. Dross which is easy to remove is usually low speed dross. You are more likely to see this in corner...

Re: SL60 torch conector

Thanks for the question. There are 3 tips available for the SL40, all of which were available at the initial launch of CM 42. The Radnor version of the torch, the MC 40, has equivalent parts. TDC Radnor 9-0091 20A drag tip 64006532 9-0093 40A drag tip 64006533 9-0094 40A stand-off tip 64006534 There...

Re: SL60 torch conector

The connector housing can be removed, but you will still have a large piece that cannot be removed. There are 4 screws that hold the 2 shell halves together. Better to take the handle off and easier to get back on when you are done. Your track does not have gates you can open?

Re: Considering buying a Cutmaster 42

The adapter kit 7-3474 will work with the CM 42 torch. It is a pigtail which installs into the quick disconnect and gives you pins for the start signal. It involves splicing into the trigger wires. The CM 42 does burn tips and electrodes faster than a larger torch would, Like the SL 100 on the CM 52...

Re: Considering buying a Cutmaster 42

If price is your main criteria, that sounds like a good deal. I think you will quickly want more power, however. Also, the CM 42 will come with a hand torch and that can be a disadvantage. It will do a good job on 1/4 inch and below, especially if you have 230 VAC.

Re: TD A120 not cutting thru

The 85 code can occur in 2 different modes. If the red status light is blinking really fast (5X/sec), the logic sees the tip touching the plate, either because it actually touches the plate or because molten metal has bridged the distance between plate and tip. If the you can turn the unit off and c...

Re: TD A120 not cutting thru

Like Jim says, it sounds like you are damaging the tip, probably during the pierce. Check your pierce height and raise it if needed. Also check cut height, although that is a much less likely cause of tip damage.

Re: Cutmaster42 connected to cnc need help.

You can start the CM 42 by shorting the 1 and 2 pins on the J14 connector on the logic pcb. If you trace the trigger wires from the quick disconnect back to the pcb, you can see where they connect. A better solution might be to get the 7-3452 adapter kit. That gives you a pigtail with a 14 pin conne...

Re: 1torch on procut 80

The ProCut 80 had a unique technology that included a valve in the torch head. 1Torch will not work with that unit. I think the only option for ProCut 55 or 80 is the original Lincoln torch.

Re: plasmacan with thermal dynamics

Separate torch cable and all other cables as much as you can. Keep the CM 50 on the other side of the table from your computer. Make sure you have a system ground with low resistance. The most vulnerable part of your PlasmaCam will be the height lifter and its cables, so keep them as far as possible...

Yes, you can use the CM 50.
The HF start CM 50 is more likely to cause noise interference with the PlasmaCam controller, but it will work.

Re: cutmaster51 / torchmate problem

When you say it does not fire, what happens when you give it a start signal? Does the gas flow? If no, then the start signal likely did not get to the logic. That will not have to do with the torch lead. If you are using the torch with the solenoid on the tube, then that might be the torch lead, pow...

Re: Issues on thicker plate

Clean air is critical, but moisture in the air stream generally shows up as a problem starting an arc. If you are having penetration problems, first check your cut parameters and make sure you are using the rated tip for the current you cut at. So, 80 amp tip for 80 amp cutting. The consumable parts...

Copper and brass dissipate heat much more quickly than steel does. Start with the same parameters you would use for that thickness of steel and reduce speed by 30%.

Re: Need some help

There are 3 separate signals in that interface connection Pins 3 & 4 are the start signal. Close to start, open to stop. Usually a system like yours has a relay which closes on command from the CNC and this makes the connection between 3 & 4 to start the arc. So check to see that the relay c...

Rule of thumb:

Hard bottom dross, difficult to remove or dross on top of the plate = cutting too fast

Bottom dross easy to remove = cutting a little slow

Of course there can be other variables, but that is the place to start

You wrote that you connected the start/stop wires separately. The start signal is just closed contacts, both wires must be connected to the relay. Test it by crossing the two wires without using the relay.
