Re: Looking for suggestions on tracing tablets

It works with it's own software to do the drawing, you don't need it connected to the computer to draw or trace. Once connected to your computer you an save in vector or raster format (such as PSD or SVG). From there you can then import it into your drawing program and use the tablet to edit it in C...

Re: Corel X5 Node Help Please

The problem is the exporting and re-importing, when you import the file from DXF to CDR (corel's format) it adds the nodes back in. Also check the way you are exporting the file, some formats will not export the splines and curves correctly and therefore will add in the nodes to make the curve look ...

Re: Looking for suggestions on tracing tablets

Most of the time I use my mouse, but sometimes when I want to kick back I will use my Wacom tablet. Works excellent, you can put in any drawing and simply trace over it, or you can create from scratch.

Re: Cleaning up stainless and aluminum cut edges

Never had a tumbler work that well on Stainless...but mine was quite small. Steel was no problem but stainless just seemed to roll around a bit and have zero effect. Tried several different media as well. Would like more info on this though, cleaning stainless does take a while, especially raw stain...

Re: Inkscape to Torchmate

Importing should be fine, what file format and how are you exporting from Inkscape? Sometimes the export format is what it causing the problem, you may want to try several different types to see if one of those works better. I found the earlier versions of autocad export tend to work better when exp...

Re: need help tracing branches in inkscape advice wanted

With the shadowing in the background, this will be difficult to auto trace. may have to redraw it, or create your own. You can do this by drawing/tracing a basic picture and then splitting it into three parts.

Re: Q on welding issue with 14ga steel - now cleat mounting system

Get a piece of scrap, tack weld it good and firm and then try to bust it off. I think it will solve the paranoia thing. :) A couple good tacks and I bet you could hang 200 pounds off of it no problem. The hanger itself will probably get destroyed before the tacks break loose.

Re: Bending sheet metal

Could you build a new jig for your hydraulic press that only bends to 45'. Plasma cut out some shapes that are at 45 degrees (like a bow tie but flat on the bottom), weld them together with a flat bar across the top and then do the reverse for the top part. Slide the jig into the press and go for it.

Re: Q on welding issue with 14ga steel - now cleat mounting system

Yea, just clamp it to your welding table or some thick steel to take the heat. Also, just tack weld it in areas instead of trying to run long beads. A good firm tack in multiple places will hold up just fine. Test it on another scrap piece and I am sure you will be surprised at what force you need t...

Re: Secrets of Stainless...

Stainless is quite different than steel. I always use a lead in and lead out when cutting or I end up with what you have there, unfinished cuts and divots. Also, make sure you are going the right direction or you will get increased bevel on your part, usually much worse than with steel. I always get...

I just use flat ones, sheer them to size....I dont bother cutting them with the plasma. I purchase a couple sheets and have my supplier shear them on their shear (cuz I don't have one big enough....yet.) :) Takes them just a couple minutes to do and they are nice and flat. Just pick them up and inst...

Re: Receiver hitch mount designs

I use a piece of 2" x 2" x 1/8" angle iron, 20ft length costs about 21 bucks and you get about 40+ hitch pieces out of ut, works out to about .50 cents each for the angle. Stick it in the receiver, mark the hole and drill it out on the drill press. You can weld pretty much any design ...
