Re: pm85 losing cut and skipping cut

doesnt seem to matter what thickness or consumables.....conditions are completely random.....sure does behave like an air problem as far as i can tell.still get the low gas pressure error occasionally, and the gauge at the cutter shows 130 psi.....im thinking that pretty much narrows it down to bad s...

Re: pm85 losing cut and skipping cut

hey jim...checked the air pressure at the cutter and found the pressure never drops below 95 psi.was a good method for narrowing down my search....it appears to the plasma cutter, now to determine if there is anything else i can do before i have to send it away.new consumables did not correct the pro...

Re: pm85 losing cut and skipping cut

thanks for the reply...i will try chhecking the air system with pressure gauges as you suggest.i know the piping is suffucient as this has bee an operating plasma system for a year and a half, but will try the gauges to determine if there is pressure drops along the air path.upon inspecting the syste...

pm85 losing cut and skipping cut

hi jim...im running a powermax 85 on a fastcut table.everything worked fine for over a year, now a problem has developed that i can not track down.the plasma loses its arc,or misses a cut completely every 5 or 6 cuts or so....if i rerun the program it will miss at completely random times,so i have ru...

fisheye in paint

i finished some mild steel by grinding the dross, scuffing the surface ,but leaving most of the mill scale on,and painting.the paint turned out pretty good. now i have been trying to remove the mill scale and dross by soaking in vinegar.the vinegar works amazingly well, and the dross removal and grind...

Re: volts and cut height

did a ton of test cuts, and found i could keep my speed up if i dropped my voltage to 72 rather than 82 as specified in the manual.i have a fastcut icon elite, maybe that is just a characteristic of this particular hieght control.nice cut at 200 ipm and 72 volts.

Re: backing plate for artwork.

thanks for the reply.i never thought about welding on the front side, will have to give it a try.although for fine delicate work, that still might not work.have you ever tried gluing ,or have you seen anyone glue 2 plates together, and do you know of any good adhesives for metal?

backing plate for artwork.

i would like to fasten a backing plate to the back of some of my cutout artwork.i did use silicone for one piece, and it seems to be holding,im just not sure if it will stay secured,or if it will fail over time.i glued a piece of primed metal over a piece of copperized metal, and it looks great,as lon...
