Re: PlasmaCam RENEGES on eBay Sales

You don't say if it's the X or Y axis. If you're not loosing steps on the stepper motor or a gear isn't loose then, it sounds like the steps per inch needs to be changed to get the other 2 inches. At that point you may not get a true hole and will have to change the other directions steps per inch ...

Re: Help needed

Here's the conversion. That original image is pretty low resolution and I could get a nice trace but it would certainly take some time!

Re: ASSISTANCE WITH A CLEANING UP SIGN

Here's a DXF.

I used Paint.Net to increase DPI to 150 then enlarged to 12" or so. Then selected the background and erased it, painted the foreground black. Imported into Design Edge and smoothed to take the little bit of roughness from pixelation away.

Re: PlasmaCam RENEGES on eBay Sales

Correct djr. The social and marketing world has left PlasmaCAM in the dust. They have a great product that is actually reasonably well priced but their tactic of secretive pricing, indignant attitude toward licensed software users about providing information on the content of updates, deity-like com...

Re: Need Help Please

Here you go, hope this helps. It is far from perfect but should cut. Took me a little over an hour to do - original art was poor resolution and the thing needs a ton of bridging to cut without fallouts and spindly messes. I might have missed some but it's bedtime and tomorrow is a short vacay! Good ...

Re: PlasmaCam RENEGES on eBay Sales

More importantly, I knew that the real hook was the software that drove the table, and I quickly saw that PlasmaCAM owners were on their own little island of misfit toys; never quite able to play nice with the rest of the community. I can see how this thread can and likely will turn into a bash Pla...

What I have is a co2 laser and it is neither powerful enough nor set up to cut metal BUT I can tell you that once the beam is significantly out of focus it is relatively harmless. It is absorbed by most surfaces and the heat dissipates.

Re: First file share

Chris, these are all cut paths or I'd convert to DXF for folks Did you save the drawn paths before converting to cut path? If so, make a file of just that closed/open path drawing and then choose export as a DXF. Many folks here don't have PlasmaCam but can use the drawing saved as a DXF in their re...

Re: Anyone have tips on creating dies for a small press brake?

Many folks use these. I'm not sure I could plan and fab it for what they're asking for on a kit.

Edited to add:
I guess this really doesn't get you to production mode on this single part. The die drawn by lockeyone would get you there.

One of the first questions I asked upon joining these forums was about this topic. I was told that you can do what you want, but you must contribute. I understand the frustration of seeing your work being sold for other's benefit, but isn't a sharing forum? I am not trying to downplay your feelings...

Hate to give up my super secret formula but...... a= the edge length The circumference RADIUS is found by Rc= a / 4 * The Square Root of (58 + 18 * The Square Root of 5) (I had to change the Square Root sign to text because the forum just couldn't understand the Ascii character..... So if you want a...

Re: letter not linking in plasmacam

There is a spot where the path is not quite lined up and overlaps. I attached a couple pictures that should help you see it. To find it, I used the break tool (K) to break the path in a random spot. Then when you click on one side or the other of where you broke it, it will turn green since you've s...

Re: Needing some help please

thanks you all so much, what program are you using to do this? I used Design Edge which is PlasmaCam's software. I did do it in several sections. First I edited the raster image. The first time I isolated the text IOWA and the meats and erased everything else and saved that. Then I started over and...

Re: auto scaling from cad

Unless you have the metric units upgrade for Design Edge, it is operating in inches and I know of no way to change that. I use multiple programs to create and save dxf files. One of them only exports in cm, Design Edge is only in inches, and one can switch between the two. Autocad however can be cha...

Re: What font is this?

whatthefont.com and whatfontis.com are both great references. Sometimes it is good to clean up your image in something like Paintshop or Paint.net (free) so the letters are the only think in your image and they are separated and distinct.

Happy hunting!
