Re: I have a few questions on general CNC plasma operations

A lot of this has to do with the capabilities of your tab;e and its settings. here is how the trajectory planner works in LINUXCNC: It looks ahead at the toolpath and says "Can I make those moves at the current velocity and acceleration settings" If not it gives preference to accuracy (too...

Re: ? about linux candcnc skip touch offs and disable hold

This has been answered on the Support Forum. Note at the bottom of the screen there is an error reported from the touch off Both errors look to be settings related.

Re: Rod's Spaceship Scratch Built Plasma Table

I'm already running their unstable development version becasue it contains a cool upgrade to homing of axes that have more than one stepper motor on them (like a gantry). So I've learnt to checkout a development branch and now have this new code compiled and ready to go. You are welcome. :D When we...

You have AC in your plasma shop? Wow, we are North of Dallas and while the Plasma Room has a window AC we turn it off during plasma cutting. Operators just have to SWEAT! Don't let my guys see this!

Re: ELIMINATING NO-OFFSET HOLES

Dwell is the length of time from when the torch actually fires and it actually starts moving in XY. So any delays or plunge time adds up to a pierce that widens out looking for more metal to cut Its difficult to get zero divots because its a fine line between leaving no divot and a bad pierce. To Mo...

Re: Help with end of cut problem

Also if you are using the MACH3 THC logic there is a setting for THC Rate (or there should be) that sets the velocity under THC. The lift at the end of a cut is a distance and if you are losing steps DURING a cut it will think its higher than it really is and just sit there (or worse go down instead...

Re: Delusional Designs: CAUTION

One of the things builders sometimes overlook is that you can take a section of the table and build a "well" that can have the rotary axis below the normal slat level and increase the diameter of the rotary cut and the clearance by several inches. So even if you just have 6" of gantry...

Re: Adding scribe height question

An air cylinder is not a proportional linear motion device. It either is fully extended or fully retracted. There is no way for it to "know" where the material is. You control the downforce so the material stops it from going all the way down. Now, if you are going to use an engraving tool...

Re: needing some advice

Air plasma is not a precision cutting process . The flame is "floppy" and can bend . There is some taper to the cut . The cut edge will not be a finished edge . Accuracy (on a good day with all the planets aligned and new consumables) is only about + or - .015. Kerf width varies with the a...

Use flat end milling tool two flute up cut spiral for routing aluminum . Mist or flood coolant Ball end does not clear chip. V bit works on AL for simple signage.

I never thought it would happen to me - but it has! Copyright law is really murky. EVERYTHING is copyrighted as soon as its created by the original author. It's designed to protect books , video, movies original works of art, photos, software, and music . So if you print a book of drawings you can ...

Re: Zero to work height issues and my macro solution.

Open the MACH WIKI and look at how you can call things like DRO's, Buttons and test the state of inputs and outputs. the number is a shorthand parameter and the cross list is in the WIKI. Each outputs and input FUNCTION (like Z home ) has a number. Which physical input you assign to it is up to the ...

Re: Z-axis issues

While it won't hurt to put a larger motor that draws more amps on an axis because the driver will limit current its not a good idea to put a smaller motor on an axis setup for a motor that draws more current. If they are ALL G201x the max current is set on each one with the DIP swtiches. Get the man...

Re: Z-axis issues

Sap in one of the other motors....if it still does it then swap in another G201X. If it still does it its a signal problem. It sounds like either a motor coil is not working (or nor making good connection) or the velocity and accel are causing the motor to stall. Best way to narrow any problems down...

Re: Sheetcam post not right??

The M22 only needs to be there if there are more than one S command with no motion between them. Its because the S command has to be stuffed inot the Speed DRO and MACH has to read it and translate the action in the Plugin. The code needs time to do that and if there is nothing happening it overflow...

Do you mean actually power up the motors? Being able to do that from software seems to present a safety hazard. I can see being able to shut down from the keyboard and E-STOP but kinda risky to power up from a hot key (?)

Re: Cut Rules and DTHC Settings for Detailed Cut-outs

Cut rules can get yoou in trouble if you don't know exactly what you are doing. An example is where you are trying to keep the DTHC from turning on at the beginning of a cut. The command to turn it off in the code will happen BEFORE the suto DTHC On code happens based on the Z position. The over usa...

Re: Z-axis or THC Issues

The jumper is in series with the old LIMITS signal line so you could expand the string . The Z switch will not work if you remove that jumper. Perhapos the jumper you are talking about is the one on the Table I/O for the EPO (E-Stop)? It DOES need to be off if you are using the Z swtich as an E-STOP...
