Re: hi new

That makes little sense. A 2D DXF file has no Z plane in it whatsoever. Any Z moves are put in by either SheetCAM Ilike in a touch off sequence) or come from the THC. Typically Z moves are positive (up above zero) . A Plamsa Post only puts in Z moves for touch off. THC Z moves come from the UP DOWN ...

Re: Post Processor - Planet CNC MK3

Well, it took some reading but several assumptions I made are false 1. PlanetCNC has their own control software (TNG) that runs in Windows or LINUX. Its just another application that runs in Linux and uses drivers to talk to their MK3 hardware. 2. It's not LINUXCNC so it does not use any of the LINU...

Re: Post Processor - Planet CNC MK3

The Post is vaguely familiar. It displays its for MACH and the MP1000-THC and not for a Linux based control. LINUXCNC has different G and M codes than MACH. Where did you get that POST? I am surprised it works at all. Part of it will depend on if you are using a THC and if it has an external disable...

Re: PM 85 F0-30-0 T105M50 SH/K error

Jim may jump in but I would change the o-ring and focus on the how smoothly the electrode moves up and down and look at the spring that is the contact point . I had an 85 that kept throwing errors and we changed consumables and it returned. I finely look at the torch in the holder and notice the bar...

Re: How to do tool changes with CNC plasma

You can make it do just about anything you want. If you have the RS485 option you can even have a tool with a 10A current setting. It won't change the consumables for you ;) but you can make the G-code snip send a message to the screen to remind you to change the consumables when it moves to the too...

contact cutting ? what does that mean? It appears its designed as a drag tip. dunno what the "flat tip" version is.

What happens if you sell your piece to someone that has a craft license? If its a trademark (logo) then the same thing that happens if you sell it to anybody else. If it's a copyright issue then its up to the copyright holder to pursue the issue. Collages and schools mostly belong to an association...

Re: newbie questions Hypertherm 65

There are cut charts in the Hypertherm manual that are very helpful. For that thickness, I would use the Fine-cut consumables and follow the book settings. I've cut some 28ga galv for some ductwork with my table. Came out good. Went down to 30 amps. With the thinner gauges you can almost get rid of...

Re: Help finding oem consumables

Then you are SOL. They don't make fine cut or low current tips for that torch . Since that OEM manufacturer of your torch is one of the largest after market consumables providers too, you can rest assured that no one else would make it I don't know the feasibility to mount one of the smaller torches...

Re: Making Licensed Products

It has little to do with selling. Is about the use of a registered logo. Whether you sell it, donate it , or give it away you have to have the registered owners permission. It's their property. Giving something away that the owner of the mark makes money on, is to them the loss of a sale (harm). Mak...

Re: Help finding oem consumables

Tecmo makes the torch and consumables .
http://www.tecmo.it/upld/repository/File/02.PT+TH.pdf

There are no "fine cut " consumables for that torch .

Good luck on finding the actual parts listed somewhere for you to buy.

Re: How to do tool changes with CNC plasma

You can also setup a default tool change action in SHeetCAM that sees a new tool and alwyas does thet action. Options/Job Options/Toolchange. It will stick the code in before each operation where there is a tool change.

Re: How to do tool changes with CNC plasma

Are you marking with the torch or with a plate marker? You just need to setup a different tool for the plate marker with the offsets and it will do it in any sequence you want. If you simply want to change the plasma arc current and nozzle (or other parameters you need to put them both in the same j...

Methinks He just wants validation of his theory that he does not need any more performance than a basic 10 year old THC design can offer and its wasted effort and just a way for vendors to make more money. You would think after years of talking about doing his own design that something would emerge ...

A Moped will get you to the store just as easy as a Mustang GT500. Maybe not as fast, maybe not as comfortably and perhaps a bit wetter in the rain but if your goal is to just to GET there then why spend the extra bucks? Just a few observations though. . You shouldn't be crossing over other kerfs/vo...

Re: New build design specs?

On a rack and pinion machine ( or any other type) you trade Speed for torque....that's what transmissions do. You have rotary torque that converts to linear torque that move the load. Since steppers lose torque with RPM you are always chasing the curve. If you spin them fast and reduce use a transmi...

First, you are a brave man running wireless in a shop with plasma and other noise sources. We have had numerous occasions where MAXH will do really weird things (usually totally random) and after troubleshooting we find going to a wired keyboard and Mouse solves the problem. As for hot keys: there a...

Re: better power supply for JD2 table?

You will never get laser cut quality from a plasma. An HPR will allow you to cut thicker material with less flare and less variations, but I am not sure if it will help that much on thinner material . Perhaps Mr Colt can jump in on this. If you are currently using fine cut and the correct cut height...

Re: How many have actually needed high speed THC

You will get somewhat higher speeds but it will result in more overshoot and more instability at those speeds unless you have some way to do PID in the velocity curve. The more expensive Neuron that is basically a stand alone THC (does not use UP and DOWN back to the software) does have PID. The DTH...

Re: Hypertherm PMX ARCOK signal latency

Why don't you measure the actual arc current if You want to be accurate? Most arc ok circuits have to have some delay built in to avoid false dropouts Typically relays take longer to drop out than to turn on because the coil voltage keeps it on down to a lower voltage than it takes to turn it on (ho...

Thanks for that info Jim, I spotted this the other day and eased the acceleration off a bit on the Z, stopped that slight judder I was getting sometimes on 10mm and over Strange.. since the parallel port MACH has no acceleration curve while cutting under THC. The THC rate is a % of Z velocity. Acce...
