Re: Another Firepit

Just looking at the design, what keeps the bottom from tipping and sliding down? I think it needs tabs that fit into slots on the two long sides to prevent that. JMHO

Re: Removing mill scale with vinegar

Not sure where you are located but look for a source of pickling vinegar, it is 12% acidic compared to the store vinegar at 4%.
I found a business near me that pickles eggs, etc for bar treats and they sell it to me for $1.75 a gallon.

Re: I Need Help. Options for fire pits

I would say you are fighting a losing battle, especially with a knock down which there is no way to guarantee it won't scratch the finish. This is just common sense, if the customer doesn't get it, oh well. If he wants assembled and welded pits with a finish you could try some of the high heat engin...

Re: Price check Please

I have seen this program, but have not tried it. I don't see anywhere to put the price per inch It does not use price per inch, it uses material cost, pierces, and cut time tied to labor cost which is price per inch if you take the time to calculate it. Also, does it figure the totals off of the CA...

Re: Price check Please

What program are you using ? I use the PlasmaEstimator from Dave Kearley, with my prices obviously. I struggle to get pricing that seems reasonable to me. You have to feel the market out in your area to see what will sell at what price range and then adjust your program numbers accordingly. What I ...

Re: Price check Please

Putting your info into my calculator I get $99.65 for the raw cut piece out of 12 gauge. That includes no design time, finishing time or materials.
Two hours design time and finishing bring that piece up to $272.45 in my estimator at my rates.
Take it for what it is.

Re: NUMBER OF PIERCINGS BY HYPERTHERM CONSUMABLES

I doubt a chart will be created as way to many variables affect consumable wear. I had a pierce counter added to my Mach 3 screen last year and I will tell you that I get way more pierces than I thought I was. Changed the last set at 2400 pierces, PM45 always run at 45 amps with material varying fro...

Didn't think they worked on aluminum?

The acids don't work on anything but steel. Not sure about the dyes thought. They might/should work on aluminum.

Re: plasma cam no longer offers technical support for thier program?

Just beware that when you upgrade you will lose features that you have with the early version!!! Like dxf export!
Then they will want to charge you extra for that!
If you upgrade I would keep your old version running also, at least on another computer if you can't run both on one.

Re: Exair cabinet cooler

I have never in 6 years had my PM45 cut out on duty cycle!!!! But I don't have it enclosed in a cabinet. It sits on a shelf at the end of the plasma table.
Why create a problem by enclosing it? And then look for a solution to that problem? JMHO

Any chance you have this in dxf

Download Inkscape, it's free. Open svg file in Inkscape and choose File/Save As and select dxf from the file format pull down. There you have it in dxf format. It's the only thing I currently use Inkscape for.

Also look into a program called Stencil Fonts. It converts any font to dxf format and will stencil for cutting if required. You don't have to stencil it though.
