Re: Help. Dead hooker storage.

It doesn't get any easier than that. Draw a rectangle for the outside frame the size you want the sign to be. Either offset that rectangle to the inside about 1" for the inner. The text you just create in your program, you don't state what you are using. I use Stencil Fonts. Size the font to fi...

Re: My New Hypertherm 45 XP

Does the 45XP use the same 45 amp consumables as the PM45? If I upgrade I want to be able to use up the consumables that I have as I buy in quantity.

Re: Question on the morality of DXF sharing?

I have had several people send me drawings from other company's and i tell them i wont touch it because the other guy did the design. I have the same thing occur regularly and always tell the customer to buy it from the other guy because by the time I draw it and cut it it will be more expensive an...

Re: Those of you who regularly cut 1/2 and thicker stuff...Q.

I'm with BTA, use a higher amp 65 or 85 and I think you will find better results. I have a PM45 so I have no choice but 1/2" is at the upper limit of the 45.

Re: lettering is goofy, can't make it part of the dxf

In Autocad you cannot use regular text, it doesn't export as a dxf. You have to use express tools, explode text command which will explode the text to lines and arcs. It will require some fixing up after that. Or you can use an aftermarket text to dxf program such as Stencil Fonts, http://www.cadkas...

I just need to figure out how to deal with the surface/flatness issue on a spoilboard or vacuum table. The sides of the LDR table I have are higher than the slats. I was thinking of drilling and tapping the sides and fastening some angle brackets or??? that the plywood base would sit on when conver...

Re: Price for this...?

That all depends on the finish required. Just the sign cut out of raw steel and dross cleaned up probably $150.00
If primed and painted add another $75, powder coated add $150, Steel FX finished with clear coat add $100. But you have to determine what will sell in your area.

Hypertherm PM105 Question

I am helping someone setup and get running that has a PM105, I run a PM45 so I don't have all the options available. Question is "with the 105 consumables in the machine torch, can I just dial down to say 45 amps, use those cut parameters in Sheetcam and expect it to adjust and cut or is it nec...

If you search the DXF File Sharing forum that Hornet is there in a cut file somewhere. The text you can put together in your drawing program and arrange circular. Should be a pretty simple design to duplicate. In fact the search took about a minute: http://plasmaspider.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=12...

Re: Sketchup make 2017 to dxf conversion, please help!!

One of the primary reasons for going with Sketchup originally was the option to draw in freehand Draftsight is very similar to Autocad which I use. I have not used Draftsight but in Autocad there is a command called "sketch" which allows you to draw freehand. You may want to see if Drafts...

Re: Pricing help on my first backlit sign (photos and numbers inside)

Did you try lighting it without the acrylic panel, not sure that helps with anything. Just roughly for the sign alone, no acrylic no lighting I'd be at $575 add in all the goodies and easily $800+.

Re: Help pricing a sign

I'd be at around $750, delivered but not installed. Although I would do the front out of 12 gauge and the colored backer out of 14 gauge. Going to be heavy either way. Several hangers welded on the back spaced to be able to hit studs.

Just my paranoia at these 40+ lb guillotines falling off the wall on someone's foot.

I worry more about how the customer attaches the wall hanger!!!!!! I stress you must anchor into studs but who know what really happens.

I have noticed the same thing. I think all Sheetcam does is take into account the cut inches and cut speed to figure the cut time. It does not figure in rapids, pierce time etc.

They all had one coming from the middle of the holes.

From the picture, I don't see a lead in! When you checked the lead in box did you put a length value in the box below, assuming sheetcam.
The other setting to play with would be pierce delay.

Just flat ones. I keep extras sheared under the table and replace as necessary. Just replaced all my slats after 2-1/2 years of cutting. They were flipped over once also.
