Re: Tools yo are using to tansfer a poster board template

The way these things have been marked on, white-outed, taped and patched, etc.

Since they are already marked up, can't you paint them black to help in your trace?

Re: Adhesive backed standoffs?

I would do is machine aluminum spacers and weld it to the front peace and bolt it That would require aluminum welding, so I would do reverse. Use the standoffs you show, weld to the steel back plate and a couple of decorative round head bolts through the front aluminum. Makes aluminum removeable an...

SheetCam creates G-code!!! it does not read it or display it. You can open it in Mach 3 which should be on your table computer or Notepad as stated above.

Re: Piercing 3/8" thick plate

The Powermax45 and 45 XP are both rated for straight in piercing up to 1/2" steel,

The cut chart in the manual that came with my PM45 does not give the parameters for 1/2" steel piercing, that is why I tried the wiggle pierce.

Re: Piercing 3/8" thick plate

I seem to recall Tom saying that wiggle pierce doesn't play well with the CandCNC controls.

I tried the wiggle pierce with my PM45 on some 1/2" plate I needed to cut for someone and it worked well. Have not had to use it since.

Re: Does anybody else really despise their Torchmate?!?!

It may be easy for me to say but in my opinion if you are going to use this to support an operation in a business you need reliability and support. I wouldn't invest another penny or minute of time in it. Cut your losses and sell the machine to a hobbyist and purchase something that you can get supp...

well ever since I took over the shop that is

What was the nature of the take over?? Was it used successfully before to do what you are trying?
Perhaps settings, cut parameters etc were jacked.

Re: Scrap Bin

Around here scrappies make a living out of cruising neighborhoods and hauling scrap for $$$$. I approached one guy and asked if he'd like me to text him when I have some scrap metal. Gave me his cell number and now I put my scrap out by the mailbox, shoot him a text and within an hour it's gone. It ...

Re: Piercing 3/8" thick plate

This has me curious. If you pre-pierce and then go back to cut starting at the pierce point won't the torch just start and flame out as it doesn't find any material?

Why does it have to be local?? Try ebay, craiglist, other forums. They can be shipped for little $$$. Keep searching while you are building your table, you have plenty of time. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hypertherm-Powermax-45-Plasma-Cutter-w-Hand-Torch-T45V-230V-/311789836860?hash=item48981f5a3c:g:T94...

Re: 1/4" MS Cut w/ 45A Shielded - What am I doing wrong?

Are the small cuts being made first and then a perimeter cut? It looks like the perimeter cut may be what is closing off the small cut. I would play with cut speed, try a little faster and see what happens.

I have a website : http://www.ikescreations.com/ : that I created years ago by myself using Doteasy subscription and webbuilder. It was pretty easy but limited and as you see pretty basic. I currently have a professional web builder designing my new site based on my original but with an ecommerce pa...

So is this a problem with the pwm sensor? How do I remedy this?

I would swap out the cable first and see if that helps or solves the issue!

Re: How Many Pierces per consumable?

I can not say exactly how many pierces I get but my guess would be approximately 400-500 on 12 gauge and 10 gauge. Count goes down when I move to thicker material. I am waiting on Dan at LDR to add a pierce counter to my Mach 3 screen so that I can accurately keep track. UPDATE: Dan reads these foru...

When I use lead-ins they end up on the part side (the side I need) is there a way to flip them over to the opposite side? I do my drawings with inside and outside layers. Except for the outline almost all cuts go on the inside layer. That way in SheetCam you can choose inside offset when applying t...
